Welcome to the Battle of Columbus!
Now, in its 34th year, the Battle of Columbus, Martial Arts World Games is one of the Midwest's largest and oldest premier open style martial arts tournament. Commonly referred to as BOC, this tournament is open to competitors of all ages and ranks. Martial arts commonly represented in the BOC include Taekwondo, Karate, Kung Fu, Hapkido, Jujitsu, Gumdo, Wushu, Tia chi, Sanshou, and Kimoodo. Specific competition types include Olympic and open style sparring, patterned self defense, team and synchronized forms, padded weapon sparring, poomse and kata.
The Battle of Columbus was founded by Grandmaster Joon Pyo Choi in 1975 to highlight the then nascent martial art sports. From 2001 through 2004, Master Choi merged the highly successful Battle of Columbus with the Arnold Fitness Weekend as the Arnold Martial Arts World Games. Master Choi and Mr. Schwarzenegger parted ways in 2004, and the Battle of Columbus has continued to build upon its past successes ever since.
